Fuels

Biomass Wood Fuels - Burning wood is classed as ‘carbon neutral’ because the amount of CO2 released to the atmosphere when wood is burnt, will match the CO2 the trees absorb from the air when growing. Wood has several environmental advantages compared with fossil fuels. Wood can be continually replenished. All our timber is sourced from sustainable forests. When the trees are harvested, the land is replanted, therefore completing the CO2 cycle. This also ensures a sustainable and dependable supply of wood.

Logs & Kindling - West Contract Services (WCS) is a major supplier of logs, kindling and woodchips throughout the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Our logs and kindling are sold to many different sectors, from large supermarket chains to shops, wholesalers, forecourts, hotels, and many private households.

Woodchips - WCS is quickly becoming a major supplier of high quality woodchips to the biomass market. Our woodchips are used for wood-fuelled boilers, producing both heating and hot water supplies for e.g. swimming pools, housing estates, hotels, commercial businesses, and many private homes etc.

Peat - Peat is easy to light and gives off a unique, cheerful flame. It is a natural product and does not create black soot; on average peat emits only one third of the smoke of a coal fire. It is also low in sulphur emissions which contributes to reducing acid rain.
